Dusk

This little clip is about my favorite time of day, when the last rays of sunshine make everything look magic. (Shot with a 1955 Bolex Supreme on 22-year-old Kodak color negative film stock.)

Autumn Leaves

Autumn arrives in Southeast Texas for the most part without fanfare. But in front of our house there is a Chinese Tallow tree, a tree that some describe as undesirable – a “junk tree.” But every fall, while the other trees enter the season unspectacularly, the aging leaves on this tree shed their youthful greens and don yellows and reds and oranges, tenaciously holding on in a late spectacle of color for one last dance in the winds of the changing seasons.

This short film was shot on 20-year-old Kodak 500T film using a 1955 Bolex Supreme. Processing and scanning by Spectra Film and Video.

Take care to savor the quiet moments of your life.

This video was shot as a test of a late-1930s Victor Ciné Camera which was my first 16mm camera when I was a teenager in the late 1960s. I found the camera in my storage, brought it out, and cleaned it up to shoot this short video. The film registration of the camera is lacking so there is quite a bit of jitter in the image, but I was pleased with the overall quality of the results. I shot this on one 100' roll of B/W negative film that I bought from the Film Photography Project who also did the transfer. I recorded the sound effects on a little Sony digital recorder and edited the piece in iMovie.

Lone Stars - Joan Son (2000)

This is one of a series of short films I made in 2000 about artists in Houston. These were created to run in the Landmark theater chain in Houston and Austin before each feature presentation. Joan Son is an incredible artist working in papered creating not only small origami objects, but large scale installations as well.

Lone Stars - Rebecca Bass (2000)

This is another of the series of short artist profiles I made in 2000. Rebecca Bass has guided students in the creation of numerous award-winning art cars.

Lone Stars - Rex Kare (2000)

This is one of three short art-related films I made in 2000. Rex had a studio upstairs from mine and we visited often. This film is a distillation of the many conversations we had about the nature of his work.

Humanus

An exploration of the changing relationship between The Human and the environment - each changing the other until in the end they are combined into one entity.

XX

A femaie figure is turned into a psychedelic swirl.
